Material Selection
You have probably already looked into what materials are used for guardrails. The international mainstream choice is S235J and S355J structural steel, two globally recognized grades.
S235J is general purpose structural steel suitable for 2 wave guardrails on standard road sections. S355J is high strength structural steel commonly used for 3 wave guardrails and high risk road sections.
Beyond the base material, guardrails also require hot dip galvanizing or powder coating. The zinc coating provides corrosion protection and extends service life.

Production Process Flow

Production Process
Uncoiling and Leveling: The hydraulic uncoiler unwinds steel coils weighing up to 10 tons. A 7 roller leveling system with 2 pinch rollers removes coil curvature and surface waves.

Punching: The 3 station hydraulic punching system completes all hole processing in one pass. The 300 ton main press punches 18 slot holes simultaneously, the 60 ton press handles traceability numbers, and the 30 ton auxiliary press processes middle holes.

Roll Forming: The steel strip enters the main forming machine and passes through multiple roller stations for gradual cold forming. The frame uses high quality steel sections with welded construction, shot blasting treatment to relieve stress, and CNC gantry milling for mounting surface precision.

Cutting and Stacking: The post hydraulic stop cutting shears the continuous profile to the preset length with a ±2mm tolerance. Finished products move out on the transport table and are stacked automatically.

Processing Range
This equipment is designed for S235J and S355J structural steel. Steel strip thickness is 3.0mm, and width is customized according to client drawings (reference values 47.7mm/744mm). Coil inner diameter ranges from Φ508mm to Φ600mm, outer diameter does not exceed Φ1600mm, and coil weight is up to 10 tons.

Precision Assurance
Forming precision depends on roller material and processing technology. Our rollers use Cr12MoV die steel, and we machine them on CNC lathes and vacuum harden them to HRC58-60. This configuration ensures the rollers maintain dimensional stability during long term processing of high strength steel like S355J.
The frame uses high quality steel sections with welded construction, shot blasting to relieve welding stress, and CNC gantry milling for flatness. Positioning key grooves at the bottom of each forming station guarantee roller shaft parallelism and prevent material deviation.
